One of sellers of fake alcohol jailed in Krasnoyarsk

A court has recognized the evidence collected by the fifth department of the Investigative Committee’s Directorate (based in the city of Novosibirsk) as sufficient to convict Yevgeny Litvinov. He was found guilty of storage, transportation and selling of unsafe goods that entailed death of more than two people under part 3 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

The court and investigators have revealed that from January 2013 to November 2015, Litvinov regularly bought from Sergei Longinov counterfeit alcohol to resell it wholesale and retail. Dangerous goods contained methyl alcohol and were labeled under famous trademarks of alcohol. He sold faked alcohol wholesale to Denis Pesegov, Dmitry Istomin and Denis Komogortsev, and retail in Krasnoyarsk. Istomin and Komogortsev sold it with extra charge to an unidentified circle of people. Pesegov resold alcohol he bought from Litvinov to some other people who then also resold it.

8 people died and 25 were severely poisoned after drinking the said counterfeit alcohol.

Litvinov made a cooperation deal with the investigation.

The court has sentenced him to 4.5 years in a minimum-security correctional facility. The man was taken in custody in the court room.

Komogortsev also got a prison term earlier while the case against others of the accused was severed to form a separate lawsuit and has been referred to court.
