Following media reports on death of a woman in labor in Sergiyev Posad District Hospital, the Moscow Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in negligent homicide due to malpractice under Part 2 of Article 109 of the RF penal Code.

According to mass media, the 34-year-old woman died in the Sergiyev Posad District Hospital during a cesarean section on 11 February 2017.

At present, a set of necessary investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime and if the medical services provided were correct and timely.

Investigators are now interrogating medical personnel, are confiscating documents to process them. They are also going to give a legal assessment to the actions (omission) of the medical staff.
