In Voronezh, probe launched in injuring elderly woman by icicle fallen from roof

The Voronezh Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in unsafe services that have entailed grievous bodily harm under Part 2, item “c” of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code.

According to preliminary information, on 21 February 2017, as a result of poor snow clearing services provided by workers of a building management company a mound of snow and ice fell on a canopy over the entrance into No 11 in Voroshilova Street in Voronezh which then collapsed on a 75-year-old woman. The woman was taken to a hospital where her injuries were preliminary qualified as grievous bodily harm.

Investigators have detained the director of the building management company on suspicion of the crime. He is now being interrogated and is expecting restraint.

At present, the investigators continue necessary operations to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime and to document the evidence. They have examined the scene, questioned eye-witnesses, residents of the house and medical workers, and requested necessary documents. The investigation is ongoing.
