In Perm, probe launched in disappearance of 9-year-old girl

A 9-year-old girl left for school on 2 March 2017 and did not come back home in the city of Perm. The Perm Territory Office of the Investigative Committee ran a check. A search was mounted by gave no results. On 3 March 2017, the investigative authority had to open an investigation in a murder of a minor under Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

Investigators have established that on 2 March 2017, the girl left school No 105 in Perm to go home in Chekhov street, but never came home. Her mother reported her missing. An investigative group which includes investigators and criminalists of the forensic department of the regional investigative authority and agents of the district police station and the Crime Detection Office of the Interior Ministry’s Perm Region Directorate are now working round-the-clock at the scene.

According to one of versions, the child may have been kidnapped so the Investigative Committee appeals to a person who possibly holds her with the request to return the child to the parents or law enforcers. According to a comment to Article 126 of the RF Penal Code, if a kidnapper releases a kidnapped victim voluntarily they are relieved from criminal liability.

By now the investigators have examined the scene, made rounds to flats and yards. They are questioning witnesses and have withdrawn and are now processing footage from surveillance cameras set along the girl’s path. Search is underway involving law-enforcers, volunteers and local residents. Other investigative and search operations are underway to find the girl and all the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. The investigation is ongoing.
