In St. Petersburg, Investigative Committee takes over case over death threat to paramedic

The Saint Petersburg Office of the Investigative Committee has taken over a case opened by the police against a 48-year-old local resident suspected of a death threat under Part 1 of Article 119 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on 2 March 2017, an ambulance crew arrived to a dormitory in Solidarnosti avenue to help a man who felt unwell after drinking some alcohol. While the man was being transported to a hospital in an ambulance van, he threatened with death and attacked a paramedic trying to strangle him. Other paramedics stopped him.

The attacked paramedic had to apply for medical aid and after he got it he was prescribed at-home treatment.

At present, the perpetrator has been detained and is expecting charges and arrest. The investigation is ongoing.

The Investigative Committee responds immediately to all instances when rights of medical workers are being violated and each one who interferes with their professional activities should bear in mind that they are going to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
