Probe launched in robbery of Soviet rocketeer in Korolyov, Moscow Region

The Moscow Region Directorate of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in the robbery of 87-year-old Soviet-era rocketeer Valeriya Shtanko under part 1 of Article 162 of the RF Penal Code.

Mass media earlier spread information that Shtanko was brutally beaten in the town of Korolyov. Investigators have established that in March 2017 an unidentified person attacked Shtanko in her flat in Pervomaiskaya Street in Korolyov. The perpetrator hit the woman in vital organs, head and face and stole at least 10 thousand rubles, her savings book and passport, and then took off.

At present, the investigators are looking into all the circumstances surrounding the crime, conducting investigative and search operations to identify those involved in the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
