In Maritime Territory, North Korea’s citizen sentenced to 3.5 years for violence against Russian border officer

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Far Eastern Transport Office of the Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict a citizen of North Korea. He was found guilty of using violence against a representative of authority on duty under Part 2 of Article 318 of the RF Penal Code.

On 15 October 2016, fifteen Koreans – crew of the foreign SMRT DAE YANG 10 vessel in the Russian waters of the Sea of Japan fought officers of the Maritime Territory Border Office of the Federal Security Office on duty.

The Far Eastern Transport Office of the Investigative Committee opened several cases over the crime and then referred them to court with signed indictments.

Earlier a court sentenced 3 other citizens of North Korea to 2 years and 6 months and 4 years in a minimum-security correctional facility. The third of the accused was also found guilty of using violence against a border officer which caused him a head trauma.
