Boy found after massive search in Kursk Region

The Kursk Region Office of the Investigative Committee is investigating disappearance of a 7-tear-old boy from the settlement of Rogozestsky Lug, Tim District.

The boy left home with dogs on the evening of 23 May 2017. Later that day one of the dogs came home alone. Only next morning the head of the settlement learned that the boy had gone missing and reported it to the police. The boy lived with his mother and grandparents.

A massive search operation was mounted, a coordination center was set up, more than 1,000 people – employees of the Investigative Committee, police, the Emergency Ministry, Russian Guard, local government, military servants, volunteers who also involved other people from nearby regions, including Moscow, searched for the boy. A lot of equipment, including a small plane provided by the Emergency Minister and multirotors were used. Searches were on for two days without stopping.

The missing boy was found in the woods near the settlement of Dubinovka, Sovetsky District. The emaciated boy was lying on the grass and had the dog with him. He was taken to hospital and now his life is out of danger.

Investigators thank all citizens who helped and searched for the boy to save him.

The administration of the Healthcare Ministry is not watches the child’s condition. Representatives of the Investigative Committee have talked to Dr. Leonid Roshal and specialists of the Moscow Research Institute of Emergency Children’s Surgery and Traumatology (Roshal’s Clinic) which he heads are ready to help.

At the same time, the investigators have checked the child’s living conditions and the reasons why he keeps running from home.
