Investigative Committee keeps looking into death of people in hurricane

The Moscow and Moscow Region Directorates of the Investigative Committee continue looking into death of people during a thunderstorm in Moscow and its environs on 29 May 2017.

According to the latest data, 15 people were killed, 10 of them in the city of Moscow and 5 in Moscow Region, while some 200 people were injured. The casualties include children. The injured are in hospitals. Doctors of the Research Institution for Emergency Children’s Surgery and Traumatology of Moscow (headed by Doctor Leonid Roshal) are fighting to save two children – a boy and a girl who suffered head injuries.

Investigators keep on examinations. They have examined some of the incident scenes and are questioning witnesses, confirming the damage and bodily harm done to all of the injured.

Headquarters has been set up at the Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee to look into the reasons and contributing factors of people’s deaths in the capital. The headquarters are coordinating the efforts of investigators, analyzing the data on the impact of the disaster and materials got from the examinations. The operations are carried out in close cooperation with the local government.

Procedural decision will be made following the checks.
