Ex-governor Yurevich’s bribery middle-man taken in custody

The Investigative Committee’s Head Office has pressed charges against the director of Moscow office of OAO Makfa, an open corporation, assistant to member of the State Duma Andrei Churkin and Margarita Butakova. The two are accused of mediation in passing a bribe on a very large scale to Mikhail Yurevich serving as governor of Chelyabinsk Region in 2010 to 2014.

A court has ruled to put Churkin in custody pending trial. Butakova has been released on recognizance due to her old age and poor health.
