Alexander Bastrykin offers condolences over death of Alexey Batalov

Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee has offered heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of People’s Artist of the USSR Alexey Batalov. He wrote on his VK page:

“Alexey Batalov was an extraordinarily talented theater and movie actor, teacher and public figure, no doubt one of the most impressive personages in the Russian cinematography.”

Mr. Bastrykin noted Batalov’s versatile talent: “All of us remember his roles in The Cranes Are Flying and Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears. But along with his roles widely cited and highly appreciated by public not only in Russia, but abroad as well, it was his ability to share his gift and skill with the younger generation that was fascinating.”

“Unfortunately, artistic people brought up in the atmosphere of high morality are not always able to protect their rights. This was the case with Mr. Batalov forced to enter a many-year litigation. We are glad that we could help him to fight for justice.”

“Warm memories of Alexey Batalov will always stay in our hearts. This loss is impossible to replace. All those who knew this outstanding man are united in their grief for him.”
