Alexander Sharapov, member of Orekhovo-Medvedkovo gang detained

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee continues criminal proceedings against members of Orekhovo and Medvedkovo gangs involved in a number of murders and other major crimes committed in early 1990s.

Vladimir Region police have detained today and transported to an investigator in Moscow Alexander Sharapov, 46, a member of the gang wanted since 2001.

According to investigators, Sharapov killed 5 people in the city of Moscow and Moscow Region between 1994 and 2001. He killed using firearms and explosives.

The gang included more than 30 people, to whom more than 12 guilty verdicts have been handed down since 2004.

At the present moment, the suspect is being interrogated. He is expecting custodial restraint. The investigation continues.
