Boris Grits charged with attempted murder of Tatyana Felgengauer

Boris Grits has been charged with attempted murder under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code. As became known earlier, the man got into the office of a radio station in Novy Arbat Street on the afternoon of 23 October 2017 and attacked the journalist by stabbing her in the neck.

Following investigators’ request, a court has ruled to place Grits in custody pending trial. Considering violent character of the crime he committed and based on the requirements of the criminal procedure law, the accused is going to be evaluated by psychiatrists, who will examine his state not only at the moment of the crime, but long before that.

As the accused lived abroad for a long time, international requests of legal assistance are going to be made to get Grits’s medical records. The Russian Investigative Committee cooperates with Israel competent bodies. The records are necessary for psychiatrists to see the objective picture of the man’s health. Only after they studied his medical records and examined his state, they will be able to say whether Grits was able to appreciate his actions at the moment of the crime.

The investigation has been taken under control by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, which is going to post updates on the investigation.
