Member of Orekhovskaya gang suspected of series of audacious crimes to stand trial in Moscow Region

The first major cases office of the Moscow Region Directorate of the Investigative Committee has finished an investigation against member of Orekhovskaya gang Igor Sosnovsky. He is charged with murdering 16 people, attempted murders of 5 and plotting a murder of one under Part 2 of Article 209, part 2 of Article 210, Part 3 of Article 222 of the RF Criminal Code; items “a”, “f”, “h” and “m” of Article 102 of the RSFSR Criminal Code, Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2, items “f”, “g” and “h” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code; Part 3 of Article 30 – Part 2, items “a”, “b”, “f”, “g”, “h” and “j” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code; Part 2, items “a”, “b”, “f”, “g”, “h” and “j” of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, the members of the gang which included Sosnovsky, committed audacious and cynical murders in broad daylight. The murders stayed unsolved for a long time, but hard work of investigators allowed them to get on the tracks of perpetrators first and them of organizers and masterminds.

The suspect was wanted since 1998. Sosnovsky and other members of the gang committed dozens of crimes, the most conspicuous of which are murders of witnesses and lawyers involved in the case against Orekhovskaya gang, several attempted murders of director of Odintskovskoye Podvorye market Sergei Zhurba, as well as murders of his drivers, bodyguards and lawyers.

The investigators have enough evidence, so the criminal case against Sosnovsky with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
