Alexander Bastrykin suspends several subordinates from offices amid investigation of conspicuous traffic accidents in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area

Due to a large number of public complaints made by the injured parties in the investigation in the 2016 death of 12 passengers in a traffic accident 10 of whom were children, and demands of residents of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra for impartial investigation and punishing all the guilty ones, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee has made decision to suspend head of the fourth department (based in the city of Yekaterinburg) of the Investigative Committee’s Directorate Ruslan Ibiyev, his deputy Dmitry Koreshnikov, head of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra Directorate Anvar Akhmedzyanov from their offices.

Though investigators identified those involved in the crime and the case is now being tried in a court, the Investigative Committee keeps investigating the tragedy.

Unfortunately, this is not the only case that caused such resonance in the public and an uproar of criticism. Mass media continue discussing the traffic accident involving a traffic police inspector who ran over a 15-year-old boy.

Following an order of Alexander Bastrykin, a corresponding control unit of the Investigative Committee’s Central office has started a check into the actions of the investigators dealing with those cases. The said officials were suspended from their offices until the checks have been finished.
