Ex police found guilty of taking bribe from gangsters in Moscow

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Head Office of the Investigative Committee as sufficient to convict former officer of the police crime detection directorate Vadim Shavlokhov. He was found guilty of bribery under Part 6 of Article 290 and abuse of power under Part 1 of Article 286 of the RF Criminal Code.

The court and investigators have established that in July 2013, serving as a police operative agent Shavlokhov abused his power and passed over to members of the gang headed by Aslan Gagiyev a copy of an official document for a reward of 100,000 rubles.

The document complicated the investigation opened against members of the gang.

The criminal community set up and headed by Gagiyev started acting in 2004 and had more than 50 people in its ranks. The gangsters were charged on 49 counts of crimes committed in the city of Moscow, Moscow Region and North Ossetia, they killed 60 people including law-enforcers, republican and city officials, businessmen and others.

The court has sentenced Shavlokhov to 9 years in a maximum-security correctional facility and banned him from taking managerial positions in law enforcement for 3 years.
