Investigative Committee Chairman orders control over check into media reports about death of children and negligence of officials of guardianship authorities in Krasnoyarsk Territory

A show at a federal TV channel has discussed today a story of a 35-year-old woman from Krasnoyarsk Territory wanting to become a guardian of her two nephews aged 9 and 3. Their birth mother’s parental rights regarding the elder son were terminated and limited regarding the younger one. Two more of her children died after having a high fever for several days, while their mother was drunk. The story goes on saying that the children were beaten and given alcohol. Furthermore, there are complaints about the work of guardianship authorities which had not reacted before, and now intend to return one of the children to the mother.

The Krasnoyarsk Territory Directorate of the Investigative Committee is running a check into the information.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee has ordered investigators to check the information in the shortest possible time and decide whether to initiate criminal proceedings against guardianship officials directly or indirectly involved in the death of the two children and displaying negligence regarding two other children. The progress and the results of the check are under control at the Investigative Committee’s Central office.
