Alexander Bastrykin orders inquiry in shelling by Ukraine military of civilians inuring children

Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered the Head Office to initiate criminal proceedings in massive shelling of civilian population in the city of Donetsk from Grad rocket launcher by Ukrainian military. Several children got hurt, one of whom was killed due to the actions of Ukrainian military forces who committed a grave war crime. In addition, infrastructure was damaged.

The Investigative Committee looks into such crimes guided by both the international and Russian laws that allow prosecuting foreign citizens who have committed crimes outside Russia, in case they have not been punished for them.

Looking into this crime, as in other cases of shelling civilian infrastructure and population, the investigators are going to identify not only those who executed the criminal orders, but officials who ordered the shelling. Dozens of military officers have already been identified and are persons of interests in investigations opened earlier. The investigators are going to take every possible step to make them answer for their crimes.
