The Head Office of the Investigative Committee has charged truck driver Rinat Mamatov and truck leaseholder and owner of semi-trailer Ruslan Musayev as part of the investigation into a traffic accident in Mari El that left 15 dead. Mamatov is accused of violation of the road code entailing death of two or more people under Part 5 of Article 264 and Musayev of breach of transport safety entailing death of two or more people under Part 4 of Article 263.1 of the RF Criminal Code. 

A court has ruled to place both Mamatov and Musayev in custody pending trial.

As became known earlier, the traffic accident involving the truck and the Mercedes Sprinter passenger minibus happened at about 5:30 PM on 16 November 2017 at kilometer marker 64 of the highway between Yoshkar-Ola and Kozmodemyansk. The investigation found that the wood-transporting truck was using wrong tires making it possible for the semitrailer to skid to the wrong side of the road and collide with the Mercedes Sprinter passenger minibus.

The investigation continues.
