Alexander Bastrykin orders Central office to supervise check in death of man at hospital in Smolensk

On 22 November, mass media and social networking websites published a footage from a CCTV camera of a hospital located in Smolensk showing a man leaving a ward and collapsing in the floor. The man, who later died, tried to get up several times, but fell over and over. The mass media say that the medical personnel were not paying any attention to the victim.

The Smolensk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has launched a check in the incident. Investigators are going to find out if there was cause-and-effect relation between the actions of the medical workers and the man’s death.

At the same time, considering that the regional investigative authority has already run a check into the crime earlier, but refused to open an investigation, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered the Central Office to control procedural decisions made over the case.
