Mr. Bastrykin ordered his subordinates to analyze the complaint and take necessary steps under the current laws.

The Chairman also sent a commission of the Investigative Committee’s Central Office headed by Vice Chairman Ilya Lazutov to make thorough and impartial assessment of the work done by the Tomsk Region investigative authority.

During the appointment which went on for several days, officials of the Central Office saw more than 350 citizens. Mr. Lazutov personally met 30 people. The officials explained the laws and the protocol for appealing against decisions made by law-enforcement and other authorities. Procedural checks were launched immediately into 4 of the complaints received.

Besides the citizens coming to ask about problems under the jurisdiction of the Investigative Committee, most of the people also had other burning problems. Namely, they complained about violations by housing companies, disagreement with decisions made by executive authorities and local governments, violation of environmental conditions, illegal building in the historical center of Tomsk and others.

All the complaints will be thoroughly considered and if there are enough reasons the Investigative Committee will take necessary steps.
