Suspects of embezzlement of budget funds allocated for purchasing forensic equipment for Interior Ministry detained

An investigator of the Major Cases Directorate of the Investigative Committee under Article 91 of the RF Criminal Procedure Code has held chief of the Interior Ministry’s Forensic Expert Center Pyotr Grishin and his deputy Oleg Mazur suspected of three counts of embezzlement on a very large scale while purchasing forensic equipment for Interior Ministry’s regional forensic divisions under Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Criminal Code. The investigators are going to charge them and then ask courts to place them in custody pending trial.

According to investigators, they made sure that government contracts were concluded with companies controlled by Narutov at a cost over 80 million rubles higher that their original cost.

The investigators in conjunction with operative agents of the Federal Security Service have searched the offices and homes of the suspects. They seized items that are going to be processed as evidence. The investigation continues.
