The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania has previously launched a probe under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of Russia (fulfillment of works or rendering of services that do not meet safety requirements, entailing by negligence death of two or more persons).

Alexander Bastrykin demanded a detailed report on circumstances of the probe from the direction of the regional investigative unit and put the investigation process under personal supervision.
