Sergey Udaltsov confirmed meeting with Georgians to discuss financing his movement

The Central Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has today interviewed Sergey Udaltsov as part of pre-investigation check into Sergey Udaltsov’s and other persons’ preparations for mass riots in Moscow and other regions of Russia stated in the documentary “Anatomy of Protest-2”.

During the interview Udaltsov confirmed contacting in summer 2012 Georgian citizens, whose names he didn’t give, but named one of them Georgy Vasilievich. He explained, however, that he was looking for legal source of financing his movement “Left Front” and denied discussing with them organization of illegal actions in Moscow and other regions of the Russian Federation. As for the certain statements about planning such actions made by the participants of the conversation and recorded by video cameras Udaltsov said that he hadn’t heard them at the moment of conversation.

The Investigative Committee also summoned his assistant Konstantin Lebedev and Leonid Razvozzhayev an assistant to State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomaryov. But they did not come at stipulated time and did not notify an investigator about the reasons of their failure to appear.

In addition, as part of the check investigators have already received from NTV TV company video coverage on which the film was based. At present the materials are being examined and in the near future a phonoscopic expert examination will be assigned for them. A procedural treatment will be provided for all actions of Sergey Udaltsov and other persons involved in discussing plotting mass riots in Moscow showed in “Anatomy of Protest-2” following the results of all checks.
