In Moscow men attacking money collectors in 2010 convicted

The court has recognized the evidence collected by Moscow investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigation Committee as sufficient to convict money collectors of OOO Inkakhran (LLC) Sergey Lyovkin and Mikhail Podgornykh. They were found guilty of crimes under article 105 (murder), part 4 of article 162 (robbery), article 222 (illegal handling of firearms), article 226 (stealing or extortion of weapons) and 316 of the RF Criminal Code (concealment of crimes).

Investigators and the court have established that on 27 June 2010, at Tretie Transportnoye Koltso in Moscow Lyovkin, Podgornykh and their accomplices assaulted money collectors and stole money of OOO Inkakhran. To get on the trail of criminals the investigators for two weeks carefully studied telephone connections of more than 5,000 people. Those were all the calls made in the area of a crime scene, from the office of OOO Inkakhran and during all the way of the money collector vehicle. Their careful study helped to pick up the trail of the suspects and then to detain them.

Other four accomplices, including an officer of patrol and sentry service of Moscow East Administrative District Directorate of Internal Affairs Ministry have already been convicted. Mikhail Podgronykh had been wanted federally for a long time and was detained in March 2011 in Krasnodar. While Podgornykh was on the run the investigators collected enough evidence to prove guilt of all attackers, about which the Investigative Committee repeatedly informed the media. Following this subject in the news Podgornykh understood that his involvement in the crime was established and that he had no way out. After he had been detained he almost immediately came to contact the investigators and started to give detailed testimonies on how the assault was planned and carried out.

The accused carefully planned all their actions and the money stolen were hid in three places: a bank cell, in the car and in the summer cottage of one of the assailants. The investigators, however, during the interrogations managed to find out all these places, to search them and seize 40 and 60 million Rubles misappropriated by Podgornykh after the attack. The rest Podgornykh spent on entertainments and bought two flats in Moscow Region and Krasnodar registering them for a third party. The flats are arrested to compensate damages to the affected parties.

Thus, during investigation of this high-profile crime investigators not only found and detained absolutely all the involved, but took measures to compensate the stolen money.

The court has sentenced Podgornyckh to 23 years and Lyovkin to 20 years in jail. In addition, 1.5 million rubles was recovered from the money stolen to benefit of each one of the victims.
