Saint-Petersburg Central Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case over signs of a crime under part 1 of article 186 of the RF Criminal Code (uttering of counterfeit banknotes).
Investigators of Kurortny district Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Boris Sabirov, 33, Vasily Martynov, 27 and Rinat Aybedulov, 31, Dagestani native were detained during search and investigating operations conducted on a high professional level by investigators of Central Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee together with officers of North Western Federal District main Directorate of the Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Investigators have found that perpetrators have acted in Saint-Petersburg since early 2012 and during this period have uttered more than 1 million 500 thousand rubles of counterfeit banknotes of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
This way, Martynov on 23 November 2012, near a house on Prymorsky highway in the town of Sestroretsk sold to a local person, who was participating in an investigating and search operation “Operational Experiment”, a 5-thousand banknote of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation made by color jet printing for 2.5 thousand rubles.
Investigators seized 2 million 445 thousand rubles counterfeit money during searches at the suspects’ apartments.
At present, necessary measures are taken to establish all the circumstances of making and distribution of fake money and to bring to justice all accomplices of the suspects. Investigators are petitioning to place all the suspects into custody as a pretrial restraining measure. Their charging is under discussion.
It should be noted that over 9 month of current year, there have been 76 criminal cases started over different crimes committed by policemen. These are exceeding and abuse of official powers, bribe-taking, stealing and other crimes.
