Dmitry Pavlyuchnkov found guilty of complicity in Amma Politkovskaya murder

The court has recognized the evidence collected by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov. he was found guilty of crimes under paragraphs “b”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 222 of the RF Criminal Code (murder of a person in connection with the official activity by this person committed by a group of persons and by hire, illegal handling of firearms).

Investigation and court have found that in 2006 Pavlyuchenkov participated in organizing a murder of Novaya Gazeta journalist Anna Politkovskaya. He got guns and passed Sergey Khadzhikurbanov the information about place of Politkovskaya’s residence and routes. In his turn Khadzhikurbanov gave the information to Magomedovs brothers, who, having distributed the roles, arrived to the journalist’s house. Having waited until she entered the elevator, Rustam Makhmudov shot her several times. According to investigators the organizer of the crime was Lom-Ali Gaytukayev, who led the group he had set up until he was detained for organizing an attempted murder of Ukrainian businessman Gennady Korban, for which he was convicted and is serving his time.

The court sentenced Pavlyuchenkov to 11 years in a maximum-security correctional facility.
