On 10 March 2014, about 12 PM, two residents of the city of Veliky Novgorod fell under the ice and drowned in Ilmen lake 30 km from the bank not far away from the village of Kozynevo, Novgorod Region. The Novgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are carrying out a pre-investigating check of the accident.

It has been initially found that on 9 March 2014, the two men born in 1930 and 1943 arrived to the lake to go fishing and got missed.

At present a number of investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
