In Novgorod Region criminal investigation launched against former director of Center for foreign and stateless citizens on suspicion of office abuse

As a result of joint operations of the Novgorod Region Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee and Law Execution and Anticorruption office of the Novgorod Region Prosecutor’s Office, the investigative bodies have launched a criminal investigation against former director of state owned facility, Center For foreign and stateless citizens. He is suspected of the crime under part 1 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of official powers).

According to investigators, in summer 2012 violating the current legislation the suspect let a construction company to repair a building in the village of Novoselitsy in Novgorod Region, which had been passed under control of the Center. Then to make the process of choosing a contractor for the repair look like legal the suspect approved in electronic form the documents on open tender on the right to conclude a state contract on capital repairs of the fence and inside the building, which contained a list of already done work. The said actions of the official entailed considerable violation of rights of organizations, which took part in the tender.

At present investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the incident. Investigation is ongoing.
