The Far Eastern Federal District Investigation Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee based on the files provided by the Jewish Autonomous Region Office of the Russian Federal Security Service has launched a criminal investigation against deputy chairman of the Jewish Autonomous Region Government – chairman of regional committee for social protection Sergey Krivosheyev. He is suspected of a crime under part 4 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery).

According to investigators, in 2013 Sergey Krivosheyev being deputy chairman of the Jewish Autonomous Region Government – chairman of regional committee for social protection knew that there was a large sum of money on the bank account of the Jewish Autonomous Region office of All-Russian NGO Russian Red Cross (regional office of RRC). The money had been received as a humanitarian aid from physical and legal persons and had to have been spent on goods and services for citizens affected by flood. The investigators suspect that Krivosheyev illegally inclined the chairman of the regional office of RRC to purchase the goods from an organization, the official had chosen for that. Later on Krivosheyev numerous times gave the chairman of the regional office of RCC written and verbal orders to pay the bills for the goods supplied. In all, over 12 million rubles was transferred to the supplying company.

For his illegal actions of interfering with the activity of the regional office of RCC Krivosheyev in person received a bribe from the supplying firm in the form of prepaid tourist voucher for himself and his wife.

During the inquiry investigators are going to check if the affected by the flood really needed those goods purchased from the firm owned by the official’s friend and weather the price on them was real or overstated.

Today the official’s office and residence are being searched, pretrial restraint is under discussion.
