Pre-investigating check launched into death of accused Boris Kolesnikov

Today Boris Kolesnikov, former Deputy Chief of the Main Economic Security and Counter Corruption Office of the Russian Interior Ministry, charged with a number of malfeasances, was brought in the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for questioning. During the questioning, which was conducted in compliance with the requirements of the RF Criminal Procedure Code in presence of his lawyer, the accused accompanied by two officers of escort regiment of Moscow Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry, went to the toilet. There the officers took off the handcuffs from the accused as the instruction goes. Suddenly, Kolesnikov ran out the toilet, knocked down the police officer and then the second escort officer standing in the corridor, darted out to the balcony and jumped out from the 6-floor window. He died of the injuries.

The Investigative Committee has started a pre-investigating launch into the incident. It should be noted that during his remand Kolesnikov had made two attempts to kill himself.
