First Deputy Mayor of Novosibirsk suspected of violating election campaign funding procedure

The Siberian Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation against First Deputy Mayor of Novosibirsk Andrey Ksenzov. He is suspected of a crime under part 2 of article 141.1 of the RF Penal Code (violation of funding procedure for the election campaign of a candidate, election association, activity of initiative group on referendum, other group of referendum participants).

According to investigators, in 2014, Andrey Ksenzov, while running for Novosibirsk mayor, spent 9 million rubles provided by anonymous sources for his election campaign to get certain result on the elections. However, under the election legislation of the Russian Federation Ksenzov was obliged to spend for that purpose only the money provided by the election foundation.

At present urgent investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
