Sverdlovsk Region investigative agencies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation charged 38-year-old famous photographer Dmitry Loshagin with a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder).
According to investigators, an event dedicated to the presentation of a beauty parlor and an art exhibition, which was attended by over 50 people, including Loshagin and his wife - fashion model Yuliya Prokopyeva was held on August 22, 2013 in the photo studio located on the 17th floor of a house at the Belinsky Street in Yekaterinburg, owned by Dmitry Loshagin.
At about 10.00 pm, Loshagin, Prokopyeva and several guests went up to the roof through utility room of the 17th floor for viewing the night panorama of the city, where there stayed a short time. While they were coming down from the roof and passing through the utility room in the photo studio, Dmitry Loshagin and his wife, who were left alone, began quarrelling. During the quarrel the defendant, while intoxicated, attacked the victim, kicked her several times, then grabbed the woman’s head and broke her neck. As a result, the victim died at the scene.
In order to conceal the traces of the criminal offense the defendant subsequently brought the body of his wife by car "Audi TT" in the forest, located at the 13th km of the motorway "Staromoskovsky trakt" connecting the “Khrustalnaya” station and the village of Reshety, Pervouralsk District. In the forest, in order to impede the identification of the deceased, Loshagin doused her upper torso and head with flammable liquid and then set her on fire and fled the scene.
According to the criminal case file, the accused was denying guilt throughout the investigation and refused to testify. At the same time, which is important, he gave neither explanation of the circumstances of the incident nor his version of the events to the investigating authorities. Thus, Loshagin did not help the investigating authorities in establishing the truth.
Nevertheless, sufficient evidence has been collected, so the investigator of the Investigation Committee informed the participants of the criminal proceedings about the end of investigative actions and began the familiarization of the accused and his defense with the criminal case. Thereafter, the criminal case will be submitted for confirmation of the indictment and subsequent transfer to the court for consideration on the merits.
