Criminal investigation launched in kidnapping and impeding legal activity of Russian journalists in Kiev

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation in a crime under article 144 of the RF Penal Code (impeding legal professional activity of journalists) and article 126 (kidnapping) after legal activity of Russian journalists was interrupted in Kiev.

According to investigators, on 30 January 2015, a team of LifeNews journalists composed of correspondent Yelizaveta Khramtsova and photographer Natalya Kalysheva were detained by officers of the Ukrainian Security Service and after that there was no further contact with them.

A number of investigative and search operations are going to be carried out to identify the guilty ones and bring them to justice.
