A court has recognized the evidence gathered by Novgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict former head of the office of Court Department in Novgorod Region. He was found guilty of a crime under part 1 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of authority).

The court and investigators revealed that in the period of time between September and December 2011, under the state contract concluded with OOO Novinstroy on building of Law Courts in the town of Borovichi, Novgorod Region, the accused signed documents on accomplishment of delivery of equipment: tables, cabinets, chairs, sofas, baluster barriers, benches for the accused, rostra and other furniture while no equipment had been supplied. Based on those documents over 5 million rubles was illegally transferred to Novinstroy.

This way, the actions of the head, who resigned in 2013, caused pecuniary damage to the office of the Court Department in Novgorod Region.

The court gave the defendant a 2-year suspended sentence and banned him from occupying any managerial positions in state or local authorities for 2 years.
