In Rostov Region preliminary investigation launched in light plane crash killing two

The investigating bodies of the Southern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a preliminary investigation in the crash of a RV-8 CETUS light plane near the village of Belovodye, Azov District, Rostov Region. Two men were killed in the crash.

The investigators believe that the plane crashed today about 4 PM on a field near the village of Belovodye, Azov District, Rostov Region. There were local residents aboard: a 46-year-old pilot and a 40-year-old passenger, who died at the scene. The plane was badly damaged. According to preliminary information the plane belonged to the pilot, who was carrying out an unauthorized testing flight.

At present a number of investigative operations are under way to find out all the circumstances of the crash including its cause. A procedural decision will be made following the preliminary investigation.
