In Saint-Petersburg investigation launched following media reports on rough handling of an unconscious patient by doctors of emergency aid

On 4 March 2015, one of federal TV channels showed a story telling that at night of 27 February 2015, an emergency team arrived in a house in Neva district in Saint-Petersburg to administer aid to one of the residents who was unconscious. CCTV cameras recorded how the doctors dragged the man on the floor, kick him slightly, then drag him down the staircase and put on the wet asphalt near the ambulance. After that they hit him several time with a cloth and kicked. Then they loaded the man in the ambulance and left him lying on the floor. The patient with a head injury was delivered to Alexandrovskaya hospital as an unknown and was place in an intensive care.

Saint-Petersburg investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 1 of article 124 of the RF Penal Code (failure to help an ill person).

At present investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The actions of medics involved in the crime committed against the helpless patient will receive adequate legal assessment.
