In Omsk deputy of village council jailed for stealing over 9 million rubles

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by Omsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict deputy of Gorkovskoye village council, Omsk Region Tigran Arutyunyan. He was found guilty of 6 counts of a crime under parts 3 and 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud committed on a large and very large scale).

The court and investigators found that in the period between 2007 and 2009, Arutyunyan as CEO of OOO Sosninsky used details of nominal companies put false information in tax statements and finance documents. Based on false documents filed by the accused, a tax authority ordered to compensate Arutyunyan’s company 9 million rubles of the VAT, which he then misappropriated.

The court gave Arutyunyan a suspended sentence of 6 years and fined him for 2.5 million rubles. In addition, the court ruled to recover from him over 9 million rubles of pecuniary damage.

After the sentence enters into force, Arutyunyan will be stripped off his deputy authority.
