In Crimea criminal investigation opened against member of Right Sector suspected of extremism

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea have launched a criminal investigation against a member of Ukrainian extremist nationalistic organization Right Sector Stanislav Krasnov. He is suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 282 of the RF Penal Code (excitation of hatred or enmity motivated by relation to a social group committed using the media).

According to investigators, between April 2014 and January 2015, the accused while being in Ukraine during a public speech involving media – journalists of Chernomorskaya Broadcasting Company and Sotsialna Kraina TV channels, appealed to hatred and enmity against former citizens of Ukraine, who before march 2014 lived in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and wished to accept citizenship of the Russian Federation.

At present investigators are looking into all the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
