In Mari-El former Yoshkar-Ola mayor suspected of grand bribery

The Mari-El investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against former mayor of the town of Yoshkar-Ola Pavel Plotnikov, 38, suspected of a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (bribery on a very large scale).

According to investigators, in June 2014, Plotnikov while serving as the first deputy mayor of Yoshkar-Ola and Chairman of the municipal property management committee of the town administration received a bribe of a flat worth 4 million rubles from a businessman for assistance and elimination of obstacles for his business.

At present the suspect is detained. Investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
