Owner of warehouse charged in Kursk Region during investigation in death of two women of alcohol poisoning

The Kursk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have charged owner of warehouse Ayaz Samedov, 28, with a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (selling of unsafe goods or products entailing death of two).

According to investigators, in the evening of 13 November 2015, a 40-year-old woman came to visit her 28-year-old niece. They decided to drink a bottler of alcohol labeled BACARDI which the niece’s husband had bought at the warehouse located at the ground floor of the FOOD CITY shopping center at the 22nd km of Kaluga highway in the village of Sosenskoye, Moscow Region. The women drank some of the alcohol and went to sleep. When they woke up the next morning, they felt unwell and tried to lavage the stomach and get rid of the symptoms, however they got worse, so they called an ambulance, which took them to the resuscitation in a hospital. Despite all the efforts of doctors, the niece died on 15 November 2015, and her aunt the next day.

At night of 3 December 2015, at the Moscow Ring Motorway investigators of the Kursk Region Investigative Committee together with operatives held the owner of the warehouse, where the adulterated alcohol had been bought and caused death of the two women.

The investigators are readying necessary papers to request a court to remand Samedov in custody pending trial. Investigative operations to find out all the details of the crime are underway and some forensic inquiries have been assigned. The investigation is ongoing.
