The Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for Kabardino-Balkaria is carrying out a check in the death of three downhill skiers who died today in an avalanche on Cheget Mount.

According to preliminary information, on 7 January 2016, the skiers were going downhill from Cheget Mount, which was not rigged with special tracks and restricted for any skiing activity. One of the skiers triggered the avalanche which covered the three men.

At present, investigators are working at the scene, identifying the victims and establishing all the details of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
