In Tatarstan, probe launched in death of woman 5 children in fire

On 9 January 2016, dead bodies of a 27-year-old woman and five children were fund during suppression of a fire in a house in the village of Stary Kubak, Leninogorsk District. Besides, the 47-year-old husband of the woman was delivered to a hospital. The Tatarstan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide of two or more people).

According to preliminary information, the fire had started because of faulty electrical wiring or careless handling of fire. It should be noted that there were 6 children in the family, one of which born in 2007 was at his grandmother’s at the night of the fire.

At present, the fire scene is being investigated, witnesses are being identified and questioned, necessary forensic tests are being assigned. Investigative operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime. In addition, investigators are going to give legal assessment to the actions (omission) of officials which might have led to the tragic death of the family.
