Charges pressed against former prosecutor of Leningrad Region

Considering a medical conclusion received on 3 November 2016, which was not filed in the case before, and according to which Stanislav Ivanov has a disease that prevents him from being kept in custody and according to the order of the Russian Government “On medical examination of the suspects and accused of crimes”, the investigators have requested a court to release the suspect. The Investigative Committee made this decision because it has to strictly follow the laws of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, on 3 November 2016, based on the collected evidence Stanislav Ivanov was charged with a crime under part 6 of Article 290 of the RF Penal Code, that is taking a bribe while in capacity of the prosecutor of Leningrad Region on a very large scale equaling to more than 20 million rubles.

As became known earlier, Ivanov while in capacity of the prosecutor of Leningrad Region took bribes of between 500,000 rubles and 1 million rubles on monthly bases in 2014-2016 from a businessman for general patronage and for helping him through checks and inspections run by inspectorates and the prosecutor’s office. In addition, at the request of Ivanov, the businessman bought him an expensive Toyota Camry car, paid for his parking space for 2 years and for at least two family holidays worth more than 2 million rubles.

The investigation is ongoing.
