Investigative Committee keeps on investigating attacks on medical staff in Russian regions

Unfortunately, a series of assaults on medical workers in different regions of Russia is showing no signs of stopping, so a law introducing a harsher punishment for such wrongdoings is now pending. The Investigative Committee has a tough stance on the problem: a person making an attempt on a medical worker must legally answer for that.

The Novosibirsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings against a 23-year-old man suspected of threatening with a death to a medical worker under Part 1 of Article 119 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, a woman applied for treatment of a stab wound at the Berdsk District Central Hospital. The hospital staff provided necessary aid and as the injury was not serious they decided not to hospitalize her. The woman had her drunk husband with her and he thought that the medical services were provided improperly. Trying to force one of the doctors to do his job properly, as he deemed it should have been done, the man grabbed the doctor by the neck and squeezed. The man was taken out by the police.

The suspect was identified in a short time. The resident of Novosibirsk Region had previous convictions for premeditated crimes. He confessed to the crime. A number of investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime.

In addition, another outrage has recently happened in Tatarstan. On 25 March 2017, a man from the town of Naberezhnye Chelny called an ambulance to help his 5-month-old daughter. When medics arrived, the girl’s aunt who had been drinking alcohol with the father, stabbed one of paramedics twice. The wounded woman was taken to a hospital.

Following the order of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, an investigation has been opened immediately in an attempted murder under Part 3 of Article 30 and Article 105 of the RF Penal Code. At present suspect Yevgenia Ryabova, 29, is in custody. She has confessed to the crime and is now expecting charges.

These and other investigators opened in different regions of the country in impeding medics are ongoing.
