The Rostov Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in negligent homicide of two or more people under part 3 of Article 109 of the RF Penal Code after two people died in a gas explosion.

According to investigators,, a gas explosion happened on the fifth floor of a 5-floor block of flats in Shaumyana Street in the town of Taganrog on 9 April 2017. The explosion was presumably caused by a gas leak and left two people dead, while another two were taken to hospital.

At present, an investigative team is working at the site coordinated by the head of the Rostov Region Office of the Investigative Committee. The investigation is ongoing.
