In Sverdlovsk Region, CEO of company to stand trial for tax evasion

The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee has finished criminal proceedings against the 40-year-old CEO of a Yekaterinburg-based company engaged in buying and selling metalware. He is charged with evasion of paying corporate tax on a very large scale under Part 2 , item “b” of Article 199 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, the accused evaded to VAT for two years. The total tax debt is now standing at some 30 million rubles. The crime was revealed during audits conducted by tax authorities in cooperation with the economic security and corruption office of the police.

Steps were taken during the investigation to find the assets of the company and its CEO to indemnify the damage caused to the federal budget. Namely, a court arrested the car of the accused. In addition, a plaintiff represented by the tax authority filed an action to exact all unpaid taxes from the defendant.

The investigators have enough evidence so the criminal case with the signed indictment has been referred to court.
