The Saratov Garrison Military Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in flight and preflight rules breach under Article 3561 of the RF Criminal Code after an Antonov An-26 plane crash.

According to investigators, the An-26 crashed from the height of 200 meters today at 6:40 Am while landing on the air field at a training air base of the Krasnodar Higher Aerial School in the town of Balashov. According to preliminary version the cause of the crash may have been failure of one of the engines.

There were 4 pilots and a trainee aboard. The latter died of injuries, the rest of the crew were taken to hospital with injuries.

At present, military investigators are working to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
