On 7 December 2017, the local investigative authority got a report that a 14-year-old girl taken to a hospital on 28 November in grave condition, died at the intensive care unit of hospital No 20. As became known earlier, on 23 November 2017, the 8th grader of school No 23 had a quarrel with two of her classmates and a 15-year-old girl from the 9th grade. The quarrel turned into a fight during which all three opponents beat the girl. On 28 November, the girl felt much worse and needed medical aid. Despite all the efforts of doctors, the girl died on 7 December without regaining consciousness.
The Krasnoyarsk Territory Office of the Investigative Committee ran a check into the incident since 28 November and opened an investigation in malicious injuring entailing death of a person under Part 4 of Article 111 of the RF Criminal Code on 8 December.
The investigators have found out that a month and a half ago the girl had a brain surgery in the Novosibirsk Federal Clinical Center.
The investigators are going to see if there was a cause-and-effect relation between the beating, psychologically traumatic experience and death of the girl.
They are also going to assess actions or inaction of neurosurgeons of the Y.N. Mashalkin National Medical Research Center who had operated the girl in October 2017, the quality of medical care provided by doctors at hospital No 20 and actions of the staff of the school.
At present, operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime. The investigation continues.
