In Saint Petersburg case over incident on Spasskaya underground station injuring woman admitted for investigating proceedings

The Saint Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate admitted for investigating proceedings the criminal case over the incident on Spasskaya underground station, injuring the female employee of the underground railway. The actions by the man suspected of this crime were re-qualified as crime under part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (attempted murder).

According to investigators, on 4 June, about 8 p.m. on Spasskaya underground station an elderly man under strong influence of alcohol pushed the female employee of the underground railway on the rails. Thanks to the help of a passing by man the woman managed to climb back on the platform before the train came. The policemen detained the culprit. The interior bodies have started a criminal case into the fact, on the signs of a crime under part 2 of article 116 of the RF Criminal Code (battery). Due to the fact, that the men’s actions may have concealed signs of a graver crime, under the instructions by the leadership of the Russia’s Investigative Committee, the Saint Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate initiated a question on seizing the case from interior bodies and put it in their execution.

At present investigation operations are under way to establish all circumstances of the incident. The investigation is to be continued.
